The Model
Engineers of the Future offers employers a flexible, masters degree model. So how does it work?
- Engineers of the Future is a five-year flexible programme available in a range of engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical and Electronic. A Chemistry option is also available.
- Trainees will be employed and sponsored by an industry partner, whilst studying one of the partner colleges and Heriot-Watt University.
- The programme is a fully integrated offering. In years 1 and 2, trainees will gain their Modern Apprenticeship whilst also completing the equivalent of the first and second years of a university degree in their specified disciplines.
- In years 3 to 5, they will complete Heriot-Watt's Masters Degree programme with most of the technical and project work being run within the workplace.
- The mode of provision will be as flexible as possible so that industrial sponsors can integrate it with their own training requirements.
